On the Pacific Road…
It was good to see so many of you at the NAMM Show in Nashville. Like the Frankfurt Fair, the number of exhibitors in Nashville seemed to decrease a bit this year but dealers were hungry for new ideas and new products. All it takes is one or two of those new ideas or new products to pay for all the expenses of the trip!
This year we joined again with our pal Rick Shubb for the annual Saga/Shubb 25th Anniversary Party in the Grand Ballroom of the Hermitage Hotel, one of the grandest of Nashville’s Grand Dames. We’ve had quite a few of those “25th Anniversary Parties” over the last 15 years, and the Tora Bora Boys just keep cruising along… having Byron Berline and Barbara Lamb twin fiddling with us covered up a lot of sins!
There were a few unexpected business obstacles for the musical instrument industry earlier in the year, courtesy of a committee of regulators but now it seems that things are getting sorted out and adjustments are being made. If it doesn’t kill you, it will make you stronger, right?
The second half looks strong so let’s work together to make that a reality. Inside the pages of the Retail Music News, you’ll see the expanded series of all new Kentucky F-Model Mandolins, four slick, new Blueridge Medium Jumbo Model Guitars and an entire page of new Diamond Head Ukuleles, as well as the proven sales leaders that will make your shop a bastion of Acoustic Action.
